Master of Computer Applications (MCA) is a three-year (six semesters) professional Master Degree course in computer science. The course is fulfill the growing demand for qualified professionals in the field of Information Technology. The MCA programme is inclined more toward Application Development and thus has more emphasis on latest programming language and tools to develop better and faster applications. This course significantly emphasizes on planning, designing and building of complex commercial application software and system software. It aims at producing trained professionals who can successfully meet the demands of the information technology industry. The IT and the software industry both are dynamic and fast growing so all the programmes are designed keeping in view the requirements of industry.The programmes aim at the understanding of the fundamentals of computing among the students so that they can compete in the present-day global situation. MCA students are trained in the fields of Systems Designing, Application Software Development, Computer Networks, System Administration, Data Mining and Warehousing, Web Designing and Development, Database Administration, Parallel and Vector Processing and Enterprise Resource Planning etc. MCA course covers various aspects of computational theory, programming, algorithm design and optimization, network and database management, mobile technologies, electronics, mathematics, probability,statistics, accounting, finance, etc. A project (Industrial training) in the 6th Semester of the course for a period of four months is mandatory for all students

Eligibility

Minimum qualification is  pass graduation degree or appearing for the final year degree examination in any discipline (Science, Commerce, Arts, Engineering etc) from any approved University. Candidates must have mathematics as a subject in their 10+2 level examination  or any one year of graduation.

For 5 years Integrated MCA course, minimum qualification is 10+2 in any stream.

 Admission Procedure

Admission in many institutes to this course is generally done through various MCA entrance tests. Most institutes conduct their own MCA entrance tests but there are also some centralized entrance tests for MCA like as  AIMCET (All India Entrance of MCA).

MCA Entrance Test Pattern

Most of the MCA entrance tests have objective questions, some universities follow a mixed pattern of objective, short-answer, and long-answer types of questions. The syllabus of the Master of Computer Applications (MCA) entrance examination is:

  • Mental Ability.
  • English Comprehension.
  • Mathematics (of 12th standard).
